Born and raised in California, I first discovered my love of writing while taking a creative writing class during my Senior year of high school. What started off as an elective to fill empty gaps in my easy-peasy year soon turned into an obsession, and I have not stopped writing in the 21 years that have followed. I dipped my toe into the waters by way of my Primordyan Chronicles, and I have only continued to grow as an author.
Having moved onto the next chapter of my writing career, I am now a historical romance author with Scarlet Lantern Publishing. I am excited to breathe life into an entirely new cast of characters, and I simply cannot wait to share them all with you!
When I’m not toiling away on my writing, I can be found spending time with my supportive husband and our inquisitive daughter in Minnesota where we make our home with our very spoiled cats. I also love to bake, draw, and dabble in sewing.

The Ardent Homesteader
Hi, my name is Kristin. I live in New York's beautiful Hudson Valley with my husband, Dave, and our three boys. We began our homesteading journey in 2010 with a modest flock of chickens (which we like to call the gateway animal). Over the years we have expanded to raise a small herd of Milking Devon Cattle, heritage breed pigs, and yes, more poultry. Mostly it is for our own consumption, just like our fruits and vegetables, but certain things have also become part of the business, such as pork shares.
I love to cook, bake, and experiment in the kitchen. A few years ago, after I made my first batch of caramel and found it not quite what I was looking for, I decided to play around. It took a few tries to get it to match what I had imagined the perfect caramel to be, but when I did...WOW.
Caramel sauce became my signature gift and was often requested by friends and family. After I gave some to the wonderful farmer whose CSA* I am a member of, he suggested I sell it at the farm. It took a year of planning, research, and a lot of hard work to get The Ardent Homesteader off the ground; but with encouragement from my friends, family, Guy & Nadine at Blooming Hill Farm and Tom & Denise at North Plank Road Tavern, Cara-Sel was born. Rushing Duck Brewing Company is a small, family-owned, and operated brewery located in the Historic District of Chester, New York that began selling beer in August of 2012. Based in Orange County, our beer is distributed throughout the Hudson Valley exclusively by Gasko & Meyer Inc. We produce a wide variety of tasty beers. Hoppy, malty, American-styled, Belgian influenced, barrel-aged, sours, you name it. First and foremost we brew beer that we like to drink. We hope you do too.
